In the realisation that the City of Cape Town could not adequately provide for all the city’s recreational needs, Baltic Timber Co approached the City Council with the proposal that a portion of their land be used for the development of recreational facilities for the benefit of the local community.
With a generous financial contribution from the Company, this unused site was transformed into an attractive and well-used park known as Sussex Road Park. It was opened in 1990 and is situated on the corner of Sussex and Albert Road Woodstock directly opposite Baltic Timber Co.
